£20m player Arsene Wenger sold at Arsenal claims he was faster than Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr

Theo Walcott has now suggested that he was faster than Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Vinicius Jr when he was in his prime at Arsenal.

The Gunners have had some rapid players in their squad over the years. The likes of Marc Overmars, Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Hector Bellerin and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all spring to mind. Former Arsenal star Walcott is right up there too.

Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott claims he was faster than Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr
Theo Walcott joined Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal from Southampton as a teenager back in 2006 and spent 12 years at the club.

The Englishman played nearly 400 games for the Gunners, scored over 100 goals and provided 80 assists during his long spell at the Emirates before he was sold to Everton for £20 million (BBC).

As good as Walcott was in front of goal, the one thing everybody associated him with was his blistering pace. He is one of the fastest players we’ve ever seen.

In a quick video on Goal’s social channels, Walcott was asked to stay quiet until a footballer faster than him was named.

The interviewer named the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr, Bukayo Saka, Kyle Walker and Alphonso Davies, but Walcott remained quiet, suggesting he was quicker than all of them.

The one player he admitted was faster than him was Adama Traore. “I was waiting for you to say Adama. Every time I see this guy play, I’m in awe of just how quick he is.”

Arsenal’s fastest players now
Arsenal may not have anyone as quick as Theo Walcott now, but they still have a few players who are absolutely rapid.

Gabriel Martinelli is the fastest player at the Emirates, clocking a top speed of 35.8 kmph in a game against Sheffield United earlier this season (

William Saliba has hit a top speed of 34 kmph, while Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka come next on the list with speeds of 33.3 and 33.21 kmph respectively (SpeedsDB).

Walcott, in our opinion, was faster than all of them when he was at his peak at Arsenal all those years ago.
