Alan Shearer believes 24-year-old Arsenal player is now absolutely ‘key’ for Mikel Arteta this season

Alan Shearer has now been discussing how important one Arsenal player has now become for Mikel Arteta this season.

Before the flurry of goals over the last month or so, pundits and fans seemed very concerned with Arteta’s lack of firepower.
In truth, you couldn’t move for talk of Arsenal signing a striker last month, with many left concerned that they didn’t.

But Arteta seemed confident that he had the solutions internally, he didn’t seem as if he was beginning to panic.
The Arsenal boss clearly had a plan to make Arsenal more resolute at the back this season, hence why Declan Rice was signed.

Perhaps Kai Havertz was also bought in a similar vein, a player who would add firepower and make Arsenal better at defending from the front.

And whilst Alan Shearer would probably agree with those sentiments, he was more focused on praising Havertz’s attacking play for Arteta at Arsenal this season.
Shearer put the German at number nine position in his ‘Team of the Week‘ yesterday, and said Havertz was now crucial.

Alan Shearer believes Kai Havertz is now key to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal attack

Shearer, who knows a thing or two about scoring goals in the Premier League, also credited Arsenal for having the best attack in England.

He said: “With a goal and an assist, he’s [Havertz] become a key part of what is currently the best attack in the Premier League.”
Of course, it’ll be interesting to see how Havertz lines up in the Arsenal eleven once all are fit.

It seems as if Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey are nearing a return, two players who will surely start when fully fit.

And with that said, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta could have some very positive selection dilemmas on the horizon.

But perhaps Shearer doesn’t believe that Arteta should be naming an Arsenal attack without Havertz in it right now.

That being said, one Arsenal attacker has now admitted that he dreams of winning a trophy elsewhere.
