Alan Shearer has noticed one big difference between Ange Postecoglou and Mikel Arteta

Alan Shearer has spotted one big difference between Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou and Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta.

Both north London bosses have received deserved praise for the jobs they’ve done this season.

Mikel Arteta has Arsenal right in the mix for the Premier League title once again, while Ange Postecoglou is battling it out for a top-four finish at Tottenham.

Arteta and Postecoglou both set their teams up to take the game to the opposition and press high up the pitch.

While the duo share some similar beliefs when it comes to their style of football, Alan Shearer feels they differ massively in terms of touchline behaviour

Shearer has noticed big difference between Arteta and Postecoglou
Writing in his latest column for The Athletic, Shearer claimed that Arteta is more ‘demonstrative’ on the touchline than Postecoglou and Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.

“Arteta puts himself front and centre, but Ange Postecoglou and Eddie Howe do the same with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, albeit in a very different way,” he wrote.

Neither Postecoglou nor Howe are demonstrative — quite the opposite — but they rarely budge from their technical areas. It is not a coincidence.

“As leaders, they put themselves front of shop, there to protect their players and soak up any flak.”

Arteta’s touchline antics have often led to criticism of the Arsenal boss during his time in north London

Most recently, Chris Sutton accused the Spaniard of being ‘over-emotional’ following their statement win over Liverpool last month.

As for Postecoglou, it’s rare to see the Aussie become animated on the touchline. He often provides a cool head in the dugout, even when things aren’t exactly going Tottenham’s way.

Whether or not Postecoglou’s approach is more beneficial to his players is up for debate.

Arteta’s Arsenal side are going well at the moment and his passion certainly rubs off on his players.
