Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta handed one-off transfer opportunity thanks to Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe’s rampant form at Paris Saint-Germain could present Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with an unmissable transfer opportunity. While Mbappe’s thirst for goals is naturally a plus point for the Parisians, it also comes with its drawbacks, as big-money summer signing Goncalo Ramos is struggling to get into the side
Ramos bagged 27 goals in all competitions for Benfica last season. But his stock really went through the roof when he scored a hat-trick for Portugal at the World Cup, firing in a trio of goals against Switzerland in Qatar.
Manchester United were rumoured to be admirers of the striker, but PSG ended up coughing up the necessary cash to bring him to Ligue 1 in a £68.8million deal. Things haven’t gone according to plan since.

The brilliance of Mbappe has limited Ramos to eight league starts this season, with the 22-year-old returning only four goals in all competitions.
Arteta has already made it clear that he doesn’t expect any earth-shattering arrivals at the Emirates Stadium this January. The chances of the Gunners forking out enough to lure Ramos away from PSG, only months after his arrival, therefore appear slim.
But Arsenal would be wise to take another good luck when the window swings open in the summer. Ramos was in high demand before his move to France and a palatable transfer fee may be enough to seal the deal if they strike at the end of a disappointing season for the forward.
