Arsenal confirmed team news vs Fulham as Zinchenko and Jesus miss out and Havertz returns

Gabriel Jesus has been dropped to the bench for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Brazilian forward has started every one of Arsenal’s games in December but is dropped to the bench after a difficult night against West Ham in midweek in which the Gunners struggled up front.

“It’s what it is,” Mikel Arteta said of his side’s struggles up front. “We have to try to generate. If we don’t score with 30 shots, then we have to do 50 or 60 to try to score. That’s the only thing. I can’t imagine a game where we have more touches in the box, more dominance and less situations for the opponent against a really good West Ham side. Today though, it wasn’t enough to win the game.”

He is replaced by Eddie Nketiah in the side. Arteta has suggested that he intends to use internal solutions to solve Arsenal’s lack of clinical edge. The Gunners continue to be linked with strikers like Ivan Toney and Pedro Neto however.

Oleksandr Zinchenko meanwhile is out of the squad entirely with a calf problem. His absence coincides with the timely return of Takehiro Tomiyasu after a calf injury of his own that has kept him out for four weeks. The Japan international is on the bench however, with Jakub Kiwior starting at left back.

There is one more change to the side who lost 2-0 to West Ham. Kai Havertz is available again after being suspended in midweek. He replaces Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian is on the bench. That means that Gabriel Martinelli keeps his place in the starting XI on the left wing. Bukayo Saka meanwhile plays on the right.

Emile Smith Rowe is back on the bench again after impressing as a sub in midweek. He’ll be hoping to make an even bigger impact this time around.
