Arsenal eyeing 19-year-old midfielder with Michael Essien seal of approval

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign a 19-year-old midfielder with the Michael Essien seal of approval.

The Gunners are in pursuit of FC Nordsjaelland talent Mario Dorgeles, according to the Evening Standard.

Arsenal are said to be watching the player, but they are far from alone in the race for the young Ivorian.

As well as the Gunners, the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle United are apparently monitoring Dorgeles too.

In addition, the likes of Brighton, Monaco, Lille, Lyon and Marseille are said to be in pursuit.

Furthermore, Manchester United-bound director Dan Ashworth reportedly admires the player as well.

Arsenal target Mario Dorgeles deemed one of Nordsjaelland’s top three talents
Dorgeles is currently being coached by Chelsea legend Michael Essien at Danish outfit Nordsjaelland.

The Danish club is owned by the Right to Dream Academy, which offers pathways to Europe for Africa’s best talent.

And as per the Evening Standard, Essien named the 19-year-old as one of the three top talents at the club in 2023.

Dorgeles was named alongside Ernest Nuamah, who has since joined French side Lyon, and Ibrahim Osman, who is now at Brighton.

The Evening Standard has described Dorgeles as a technically gifted left-footed defensive midfielder.

Better still for Arsenal, he is apparently expected to leave Nordsjaelland in summer, suggesting the Gunners have a good chance of landing him.

Arsenal could certainly do with bolstering their midfield ranks in summer amid question marks over Thomas Partey’s fitness and Fabio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga’s suitability for the club.

Dorgeles looks like a top talent and the Gunners will certainly fancy their chances of beating rival suitors to his signature.
