Arsenal fans ‘never’ want to see Leandro Trossard do one thing again after loss

Arsenal fans were not impressed by what they saw from Leandro Trossard against West Ham United.

Leandro Trossard was fielded as part of the Arsenal midfield trio against West Ham United, taking up the left-eight position vacated by the suspended Kai Havertz.

However, the Belgian failed to match the impact on the game that the German has provided in recent weeks. Trossard offered little on the ball, was not strong enough in his duels, and failed to offer a threat in behind with line-breaking runs from deep.

As per WhoScored statistics, the former Brighton and Hove Albion man only completed 78.3% of his passes, and was even less accurate with his set pieces. The 29-year-old was trusted with delivering corners from the left hand side in the first half, but all of his efforts were poor and failed to beat the first defender.

Many Arsenal fans took to X to voice their displeasure with Trossard’s corners. One supporter said, “Trossard should never be allowed to take a corner again.” Another agreed, stating, “Trossard should never take another corner in his career.” One fan questioned the decision to hand him the responsibility in the first place, asking, “Why do we continuously let Trossard take corners? Never makes it past the post.”

Arsenal had good headers of the ball on the pitch. The likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, and Declan Rice all offer a threat from set piece situations. However, the delivery into the box has to be good to give them a chance of making an impact.

Arsenal fans call for Emile Smith Rowe to usurp Leandro Trossard
Mikel Arteta hauled Trossard off in the second half, with Hale End academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe coming on his place. The 23-year-old immediately brought more energy and directness to the team, and nearly got on the end of a Martin Odegaard cross after making a penetrative run from deep.

Whilst Arteta is thought to be happy with Trossard in general, lots of Arsenal fans want to see Smith Rowe leapfrog Trossard in the pecking order when it comes to being used in that part of the pitch. One supporter said, “Smith Rowe showed more in 15 mins than Trossard did for 70 mins.” Another stated, “If Trossard starts over esr again arteta out.”
