Arsenal handed Dominic Solanke transfer boost as Newcastle set clear stance

Dominic Solanke is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal, after impressing for Bournemouth this season

Newcastle United have set a clear stance regarding a move to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke – which will come as a huge boost for Arsenal. Solanke has enjoyed a terrific start to the 2023/24 campaign, finding the net 12 times in 19 Premier League appearances for Andoni Iraola’s side.

The Cherries have so far boasted impressive wins against Manchester United and Newcastle United, as they continue to battle to stay in the Premier League once again. Solanke, who joined Bournemouth for a fee of around £19million from Liverpool back in 2019, has continued to develop his game.

he Gunners were rumoured to be interested in the 26-year-old this year, with Newcastle reportedly also enquiring about his availability. Now, Eddie Howe has responded to reports claiming the Magpies are interested in signing Solanke

“I love Solanke,” the Newcastle boss said. “I signed him for Bournemouth and rate him very highly, but we have not made an enquiry for him and we don’t have the ability to sign a player of that level

Newcastle’s spending is restricted this month in order to remain within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability guidelines. Howe’s update will come as a boost for Arsenal, seemingly giving them a clear run at signing the 26-year-old, but it also may suggest Bournemouth’s asking price is far too high for any club to poach Solanke from the Vitality Stadium this month.

Speaking back in December to BBC Radio Solent Sport, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley has dismissed any such move for the forward, claiming the opportunity is more than unlikely to happen. “The door’s closed and bolted shut,” the 78-year-old said.

Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus have continued to battle it out for the starting role up top for Arsenal as of late. But as we have seen in the goalkeeper department, Mikel Arteta is not resting on his laurels as the Gunners chase down further success this season

Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as the latest striker target for Arsenal as they put plans in place to strengthen Arteta’s squad. However, spending may be limited following the Gunners’ £200million outlay in the summer.
