Arsenal handed Harry Kane injury boost as Bayern Munich star misses England training session

The Bayern Munich forward had been an injury doubt going into the international break

Arsenal have been dealt a boost in the build up to their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich after Harry Kane missed a training session with England at St. George’s Park.

The 30-year-old suffered an ankle injury after colliding with the post during Bayern’s 5-2 win over Darmstadt at the weekend. Speaking after the match Thomas Tuchel admitted there was some concern over the freak accident.

“He collided with the post and twisted his ankle a bit,” Tuchel said. “He had his ankle iced. There’s still no diagnosis, we have to wait. I hope it’s nothing bad.”

With Arsenal facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals next month there was some hope that the prolific forward may be absent for the match. During his time with Tottenham Hotspur Kane scored 14 goals in 17 matches against the Gunners. He has only scored more against Leicester and Everton.

It does seem as though Kane’s problem is continuing to be an issue. The 30-year-old was training indoors away from the rest of the England squad at St. George’s Park as he took part in an individualised programme

Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Aaron Ramsdale were all also present for the training session. Ben White, however, has remained in north London.

The 26-year-old, who signed a new contract with Arsenal last week, instead has made himself unavailable for selection for the current squad. “Clearly on form I can’t sit here and say he doesn’t deserve to be in,” manager Gareth Southgate said. “We had a call from Edu (Arsenal’s sporting director) last week (and he) said Ben didn’t want to be considered for England squads at this time.

“For me that is a great shame. He is a player we took to the Euros, a player we took to the World Cup and I spoke to him post-Qatar because I wanted to pick him.”
