12 days into the January transfer window and Arsenal are yet to make any movement, despite there being a clear need for reinforcements. A new striker has dominated the opening days of the window with a fresh twist on Ivan Toney’s future seeming to appear each day.

football.london also understands that Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is being closely monitored, also, as Mikel Arteta considers strengthening his squad elsewhere. Two new names have emerged in the shape of Joshua Zirkzee and Borja Mayoral. The Gunners have reportedly registered an interest in the pair, though a deal this month seems to be far fetched.

With that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news ahead of another busy day following the Gunners.
A surprise target emerges
According to The Sun, Arsenal have submitted a £22million bid for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral. However, the Spanish outfit have reportedly rejected the Gunners’ opening bid, pointing towards their £39million valuation.

Mayoral, who sees his contract expire in 2027, has featured 19 times in La Liga this season, scoring 12 goals and recording just one assist. The Spaniard has been enjoying a rich vein of form, catching the eye in Getafe’s six-goal thriller against Atletico Madrid last month.

Zirkzee race is on!
Joshua Zirkzee, who left Bayern Munich 18 months ago, has recently emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal as Arteta looks to further bolster his frontline. According to The Telegraph, the 22-year-old forward has been valued at £50million following his impressive performances in the Serie A.

He’s featured 19 times for Bologna in the Italian top-flight this season, scoring seven goals and recording two assists. Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the Netherlands Under-21 international recently.
