Arsenal news and transfers LIVE – Title race blow, Mbappe plan, Xavi Simons future

Arsenal transfer news with the latest Gunners headlines and updates from around the football world with attention turning towards the summer window

Hello, welcome to the dedicated Arsenal live blog as Mikel Arteta’s side watch on in hope during the last week of the Premier League season. The Gunners could have the title in their hands by the end of Tuesday if fierce north London rivals Tottenham do them a favour against Manchester City.

However, with Aston Villa all but securing their spot in the top four, there is less and less for Spurs to play for by the day. It leaves Arsenal’s chances of winning a first title for 20 years hanging by a thread controlled by Pep Guardiola.

Looking forward and Arteta will be keen to strengthen his squad regardless of the outcome in the league. Big changes at the club are expected in the coming months with plenty of work on both ins and outs.

Benjamin Sesko is one of the names being linked with the club and he is thought to be on the shortlist as a new striker option. Further back and Crystal Palace pair Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze have also been tipped for a move.

There is set to be an exodus of surplus players too with Aaron Ramsdale, Nuno Tavares, Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Emile Smith Rowe, and Eddie Nketiah among a large list of possible exits. Edu Gaspar and Stan Kroenke will also have the financial restrictions to comply with as they plan ahead.

Mbappe confirmation
According to YouTube sensation iShowSpeed, the 25-year-old will snub a move to the Spanish giants to join Arsenal for what would be one of the biggest deals in the Gunners history.

While watching Fabrizio Romano tell his 24.4 million subscribers that Mbappe is set to join Madrid, the YouTuber has suggested that those reports are wide of the mark and claimed he would move to north London.

“He’s not going to Real Madrid, he’s not going. I promise you,” he said. “Don’t ask me how I know but he’s not going. Trust me. I’ve got the real insight. Trust me.”

He continued: “I’m going to tell you all where he is going. Don’t ask me how I know, but watch how he doesn’t go [to] Real Madrid. And he’s going [to] Arsenal. You only heard it from me, you only heard it from me.”

Good morning
The moral of yesterday? Never trust Tottenham to do anything.

Arsenal are still in the title race on the final day. You never know what might happen.

We’ll be all over the last transfer news and other goings-on throughout the day.

Game over
It’s full-time at Tottenham and unfortunately, Man City have won.

It means that the Premier League title is no longer in Arsenal’s hands going into the final game of the season
