Arsenal now ‘in negotiations’ to extend ‘world-class’ 25-year-old defender’s contract

Arsenal are now in talks to extend and improve the contract of Takehiro Tomiyasu according to recent reports.

Arsenal seem keen on keeping their group now together as multiple new contract reports have emerged in recent weeks.
Ben White is one who Mikel Arteta has admitted will potentially be signing a new deal, while Jorginho is another but Arsenal will have seen backlash over this one signing a new contract.

One thing the best teams do is keep their core group together, and that is done through keeping players on long contracts and now another is possibly extending his stay at The Emirates.

The player is Takehiro Tomiyasu who has been so important for Arteta’s side in their rise to the summit of the Premier League.
Arsenal now looking to extend Takehiro Tomiyasu’s contract

David Ornstein took to X with an update on the contract situation of Tomiyasu.

He wrote: “Arsenal in negotiations with Takehiro Tomiyasu over new long-term contract. An offer to 25yo has been made + expectation is agreement will be reached in due course. Would extend & improve current deal (2025 + option for extra 12 months)”.
From the sounds of this, an agreement shouldn’t be far away given both parties likely are keen on finding a resolution. Long term also suggests that he will be remaining at the club until at least 2028.

He will also be expecting to receive a substantial payrise on his current salary which is among the clubs lowest.

How much does Tomiyasu earn at Arsenal?

Tomiyasu is among Arsenal’s most important players and his wage of £55k-a-week doesn’t quite showcase his value to the squad.

Due to this the ‘world-class‘, as White called him, defender absolutely deserves his potential new contract.
The 25-year-old is the fourth lowest paid player at Arsenal and we expect a contract on improved terms should take him up to near the £100k-a-week mark.

With two and half years remaining on his contract however, an announcement probably won’t be rushed but the main thing is he should be signed to a new deal soon.
