Arsenal now preparing to activate £50million release clause of midfielder in January

Arsenal reportedly ready to activate the release clause of £50m-rated star who is compared to Barcelona great Sergio Busquets.
Arsenal will reportedly revive interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, despite the player rejecting a move to the Emirates last summer.
Mikel Arteta had previously considered a £50 million bid for the 24-year-old, and though the initial attempt faced hurdles, the Gunners are undeterred in their pursuit.

Recent reports suggest that Arsenal are plotting a January move for Zubimendi, who remains a target for several top clubs.
Barcelona, among others, are also in the race for the Spain international’s signature. The deciding factor could come down to which club activates Zubimendi’s £50million release clause first.
Despite Zubimendi’s contract with Real Sociedad running until the summer of 2027, there is growing speculation within the club that the midfielder’s departure is imminent, either in January or at the end of the current season.
The player has spent his entire career with Sociedad, joining the club at the age of 12. An exit would mark a significant move in Zubimendi’s career, and his choice of destination could hinge on factors like playing time and adaptation to a new league.

While Arsenal’s pursuit of a midfielder in January might seem surprising with injured Thomas Partey close to return and considering their storied need for attacking reinforcements. Mikel Arteta has acknowledged the challenges of securing a high-profile striker this month.
After Arsenal’s FA Cup elimination by Liverpool, Arteta mentioned that a significant striker arrival in January appears unrealistic, emphasising the focus on improving the current squad’s performance.

He said, “At the moment it doesn’t look realistic. My job is to improve our players and get better results with the players we have.”
