Arsenal now want to sign centre-back Chelsea sold for £25m, his family are Gunners fans

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign Fikayo Tomori, a player Chelsea sold for £25 million.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has reported AC Milan’s stance on a potential exit.
So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Fikayo Tomori? Let’s take a look.

Arsenal want to sign former Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori

Well, according to Football Transfers, Arsenal are interested in signing former Chelsea central defender Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan.

The report has claimed that Arsenal have “expressed an interest” in securing the services of the England international centre-back, who rated Gunners striker Eddie Nketiah highly.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta personally wants the 26-year-old centre-back in his squad in 2024.
Football Transfers has reported that Bayern Munich are also interested in Tomori, but the Gunners have the advantage over the defending Bundesliga champions because the defender’s family are Arsenal fans.
The report has also quoted Tomori as saying that his idol while growing up was Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Tomori came through the youth system at Chelsea and played for the first team. The defender made a handful of appearances for the Blues’ senior side and had loan spells at Brighton and Hove Albion, Hull City and Derby County.

After a loan at Milan in 2021, the 26-year-old joined the Italian giants on a permanent contract for £25 million (The Sun).

My View: Fikayo Tomori would be a good signing for Arsenal

In my view, AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori would be a very good signing for Arsenal.
I do not think that AC Milan will sell Tomori in the January transfer window, but a big offer in the summer of 2024 from Arsenal could persuade them.

Given that Tomori’s family members are Arsenal fans, he could be tempted to make the switch to the North London club.

William Saliba and Gabriel are the two main centre-backs at Arsenal, but if either of them get injured, then it would be a problem for the Gunners, especially if Ben White continues to play at right-back despite being a centre-back by trade.

Tomori has progressed and developed a lot at AC Milan. The 26-year-old won Serie A in 2021-22 and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Owen Hargreaves rates him highly.
