Arsenal plan to accept offers for £310,000-a-week midfield pair

Arsenal are looking to offload midfield duo Thomas Partey and Jorginho in the January transfer window and will accept appropriate offers for each of them, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners want to thin their first-team squad next month to make space for new arrivals ahead of the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Partey is one of the highest earners at Arsenal with talkSPORT claiming he earns in excess of £200,000 per week on his current deal.

Jorginho is also understood to be one of the top earners at the London club with a wage of £110,000 per week following his move to Arsenal in January 2023.

Parting ways with both midfielders would remove over £16million from Arsenal’s annual wage bill, freeing up space for Arteta to bring in new signings.

Partey has been unavailable for much of the 2023/24 season with a recurring hamstring injury and has made just five appearances for the Gunners across all competitions.

The Ghana international was last in action for Arsenal in October during their 1-0 win over Manchester City.

As for Jorginho, the Italian has played just 382 minutes in the Premier League this season across 11 appearances and has not featured in Arsenal’s last five matches.

The summer arrival of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice has pushed Jorginho down the pecking order at The Emirates and an exit now looks likely.
