Arsenal receive Declan Rice injury update amid ‘not easy’ Mikel Arteta claim

A round-up of the latest Arsenal news as Mikel Arteta receives an update regarding Declan Rice’s injury and David Raya gives an honest verdict on his summer transfer.

AC Milan target Jakub Kiwior pushes for a transfer out of Arsenal

Poland centre-back Jakub Kiwior has just given AC Milan a huge boost for their interest in his transfer from Arsenal. That is according to Calciomercato, which claims that the 23-year-old is pushing to leave the Gunners before the January market closes to secure regular minutes.
Kiwior only joined the Emirates Stadium outfit from Spezia last January but he has struggled to secure a prominent place. Arteta has only started the 19-cap international 14 times over his 24 appearances, including in just eight of his 16 outings so far this term for 707 minutes.
AC Milan hope to sign Kiwior on loan from Arsenal with the option for a permanent transfer this summer. Head coach Stefano Pioli is in desperate need of a new centre-back as the San Siro team are without Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu owing to thigh injuries.

Declan Rice should face Nottingham Forest after avoiding an injury

Arsenal midfielder Rice has avoided a serious hamstring injury and should be available when they visit Nottingham Forest next week. That is according to the Daily Mail, which notes that Arteta replaced the 25-year-old in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace as he felt an issue.

But Arsenal now believe Rice was suffering from tightness in the muscle rather than from an actual injury. So, confidence is growing at Emirates Stadium that he will be fit for their trip to the City Ground next Tuesday. Arteta’s side do not play again before they travel to the Reds.

Rice registered his first Premier League appearance as an Arsenal player against Nottingham Forest last August. He has also started all 21 of the Gunners’ top-flight games since joining from West Ham United. The midfielder also penned his second assist against Crystal Palace.

David Raya admits ‘it’s not easy’ to get started at Arsenal
On-loan Brentford goalkeeper Raya admits it was ‘not easy’ to get started for Arsenal under Arteta after joining last August. The 28-year-old left west for north London after the start of the Premier League season. His switch also features the option to seal a permanent transfer.
Raya would spend the first two available top-flight matches at Emirates Stadium on Arteta’s bench, too. But he replaced Aaron Ramsdale as their No1 after the September international break. Boss Arteta has not looked to revert his decision since, either, when Raya is available.

The three-cap Spain international has started all 16 available games since his Arsenal debut away to Everton. He also has six clean sheets to 16 goals conceded after denying Crystal Palace last Saturday. But his performances have often raised questions about Raya’s spot.

Raya raised alarm bells with his efforts on the ball against Manchester City last October. The goalkeeper has also been at fault for multiple goals, most notably twice against Luton Town. But Raya believes he is finally ‘finding my feet’ having had the chance to settle in at Arsenal.

“I think you need time to adapt to a new team, new club, new facilities and new demands,” Raya said, via quotes by the Mirror. “It’s not easy. But I think I am finding my feet, and I am finding myself, now. Of course, I am feeling part of the team.”
