Arsenal striker could leave before transfer deadline as Mikel Arteta decision awaits

Arsenal could have a busy end to the January transfer window with one of the club’s young strikers potentially set to leave the Emirates Stadium before the deadline

Arsenal could reportedly allow young striker Khayon Edwards to leave the club this month.

The January transfer window is in full swing and the Gunners continue to be linked with potential new signings. It remains to be seen whether or not Mikel Arteta and Co. will look to bring in any new signings before the January 1 deadline.

It’s also possible that Arsenal could let some players leave the club. Reports have suggested that Edwards could be one of those who leaves the Emirates Stadium this month.

Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal academy website has claimed that Edwards looks set to leave the club on loan before the deadline. The report does not name any clubs that the striker could join, although there is apparently interest among clubs in England, Germany and the Netherlands

Edwards is among the most talented young stars of Arsenal’s academy but has yet to be handed any first-team opportunities by Arteta. The 20-year-old has scored nine goals with two assists in 14 appearances for the club’s Under-21s this season

A loan move for Edwards would allow the striker to gain valuable first-team experience in the second half of the season. Last season saw Arteta include Edwards twice in the matchday squad in the Europa League, but he did not get any time on the pitch.

Arsenal continue to be linked with the possibility of signing a striker during this month’s transfer window. However, after spending more than £200 million in the summer, the club will be mindful of their finances due to Financial Fair Play rules
