Arsenal stuck gold with ‘underrated’ £25m talent who’s now worth more than Trent Alexander-Arnold

According to a new report, Arsenal now have a defender who is considered to be worth more than Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

There’s no doubt that both Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are incredibly keen to make the most of each transfer window that passes.

And although January was a quiet month in terms of incoming players, that’s not to mean Arsenal weren’t successful.

The club avoided any knee-jerk reactions to their troubles in front of goal at the time, and that decision already looks well justified.

Arteta heads to Sheffield United with a wealth of attacking talent tomorrow, and perhaps ready-to-start Gabriel Jesus will have to settle for a spot on the bench.

That being said, there’s very little doubt over who will line-up for Arsenal at the back.

Jakub Kiwior is the only player with the slightest uncertainty attached to his starting position, but it would be a surprise if he lost his spot.

But perhaps an understated part of Arsenal’s strength right now is their centre-back duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes now said to be worth more than Trent Alexander-Arnold
Gabriel in particular has become a ‘underrated’ member of this Arsenal squad hoping to win the title this season.

And having been signed for £25m back in 2020, it now seems Arsenal will have made a huge profit on the Brazilian.

At least, that’s the opinion of CIES Football Observatory who have just shared their latest list of most expensive players in the world.

According to the list, Gabriel is now said to be worth £85m, delineating Arsenal’s excellent business.

Moreover, for context Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is down at £65m, considerably less than the Arsenal defender.

And whilst you’d never compare the two stylistically, it is interesting to now consider just how far Gabriel has come reputation-wise.

Oddly, there are still some among that Arsenal fan base that wouldn’t consider Gabriel as crucial, lending to this idea that he is understated.

But were the Brazilian to miss a period of this title race, which no Arsenal fan would want to see, his importance would become very clear.

All that being said, one young Arsenal player has now received a ton of praise from U21 manager Mehmet Ali.
