Arsenal transfer call ‘surprised’ Thierry Henry as Mikel Arteta reacts to ban

A round-up of the latest Arsenal news as Mikel Arteta reacts to his ban for their trip to Aston Villa and Takehiro Tomiyasu provides an update on the wing-back’s latest injury.

Takehiro Tomiyasu admits he is ‘sick of being injured’ at Arsenal

Japan star Tomiyasu admits he is ‘sick’ of the number of injury problems he has suffered for Arsenal. But the 25-year-old believes he will now come back even stronger after developing a calf injury. He sustained the issue late on during the Gunners’ 2-1 win at home to Wolves.

Tomiyasu sat stricken on the Emirates Stadium pitch before Ben White took over his role last Saturday. Manager Mikel Arteta now expects the versatile enforcer to be out ‘for a while’, as well. He had been a key presence this season with 19 appearances from 21 possible fixtures.

Arsenal beat Luton Town 4-3 without Tomiyasu this Tuesday night, after which Arteta voiced his concern regarding the injury. The defender also followed suit by admitting his upset after yet another injury. Tomiyasu has suffered frequent calf injuries since joining Arsenal in 2021.

I’m sick of being injured but I believe this is the opportunity to be much stronger,” declared Tomiyasu under a post on his Instagram account.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has admitted that he was ‘surprised’ to see Arteta agree to let William Saliba join Marseille on loan in 2021/22. The iconic France striker felt the centre-half was already superior to the Gunners’ defenders. Yet Saliba had not once played for Arsenal.
