Arsenal vs Newcastle United LIVE – Kick-off time, TV channel, team news, live stream details

Hello and welcome to football.london’s live blog covering Arsenal’s Premier League match with Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are hoping to bounce back from their defeat in midweek to FC Porto.

There are definitely good omens for Mikel Arteta after his side’s defeat in France to RC Lens, his team bounced back three days later to beat Manchester City but this will still be a tough challenge. The lack of depth in the side means there is far less chance for rotation although the Spaniard has spoken optimistically about several players coming back.

Fabio Vieira has returned to the squad and was an unused substitute in midweek whilst Thomas Partey has been in training since last week. Newcastle meanwhile are waiting on late fitness tests for Alexander Isak and Joe Willock although Fabian Schar has been passed fit to play.

Arsenal have won their last five league games scoring 21 goals and conceding just twice to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. An incredible run that could matter come May and fans will be hoping to be treated to another high-scoring affair especially considering the Magpies’ own inconsistent form which has seen them pick up eight points from a possible 21 – dropping points to Luton Town twice, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest

Arsenal will move to within two points of league leaders Liverpool with a win after their midweek victory over Luton Town as they are in League Cup final action this weekend. Tom Canton and Kaya Kaynak will be bringing all the build-up, match coverage and commentary from the Emirates Stadium, with updates to follow.

Gabriel Jesus spotted
Gabriel Jesus has been spotted with the Arsenal squad ahead of the side’s Premier League clash against Newcastle.

The striker has missed the last four games with a knee injury and didn’t make the trip to Porto for the midweek Champions League clash. Jesus hadn’t been spotted in training ahead of this weekend’s match vs Newcastle, putting doubt on his availability.

However, a video circulating on social media shows the player with the squad, hinting that he could make a return. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta was hopeful over his availability.

Arteta on Thomas Partey and team news
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has hinted that Thomas Partey could make his return to action against Newcastle on Saturday evening. The midfielder has made only four appearances in the Premier League this season having suffered with a number of problems.

Partey didn’t feature in Wednesday night’s Champions League defeat to FC Porto despite taking part in the team training on Tuesday. The Ghana international has missed the last four-and-a-half months but he could be set to return to the Gunners squad this weekend.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta was quizzed on the fitness of a number of key players, including Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
