Bukayo Saka sparks major Arsenal injury fear ahead of Man City after England decision

Arsenal injury news as Bukayo Saka leaves England camp after just two days

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

The 22-year-old trained separately from the bulk of the squad at St George’s Park as precaution on Wednesday. Saka was indoors with Harry Kane, Cole Palmer, and Jordan Henderson during the first session and understands the decision to have him exit the camp is precautionary. England face Brazil in the first of two friendlies on Friday.

Bukayo Saka has left the England camp and returned to his club for continued rehabilitation,” a statement from the FA confirmed. “The Arsenal forward reported to St. George’s Park with an injury and has been unable to participate in training. No further replacements are planned as a 25-man England squad continue their preparation for the forthcoming internationals with Brazil and Belgium.

The issue is thought to be a minor muscle injury and given that both upcoming England games are friendlies the decision was taken for him to return to north London. The Gunners have also seen Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey all removed from international duty with fitness concerns.

The news comes at a potentially worrying time for Mikel Arteta. Arsenal face Manchester City in their first game back after the international break in a game that could have huge ramifications for the Premier League title race.

The Gunners sit top of the Premier League heading into this March international break. However, they are only ahead of second-placed Liverpool on goal difference and sit just one point above City in third.
