Chris Sutton and Mark Lawrenson agree on Arsenal vs West Ham score prediction

Arsenal take on West Ham United in the Premier League on Thursday evening, with a win enough to send Mikel Arteta’s side top of the table

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has delivered his prediction for Arsenal’s Premier League clash against West Ham United. The north Londoners drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Saturday evening, a match that saw Gabriel Magalhaes break the deadlock early on before Mohamed Salah’s effort meant the points were shared at Anfield.

Next up for Mikel Arteta’s side is a home fixture against West Ham, who beat Manchester United 2-0 earlier in the day. Ahead of kickoff, Sutton has backed the Gunners to come out on top, predicting a convincing win in the process.

He told the BBC: “This is a tricky one for Arsenal. West Ham are in good form, up to sixth place in the table, and always awkward to break down. Hammers boss David Moyes is so underrated and also seemingly unappreciated by some fans, no matter how well his side do.

“I think it is a case where they should be careful what they wish for. Still, I am going with Arsenal here.

They are at home, where they have won their past seven matches in all competitions, and although West Ham will work hard, they won’t keep them out.”

Liverpool hero Mark Lawrenson has also backed Arteta and Co to come out with three points. He told Paddy Power: “This game sees Declan Rice face his old team, he’s made a big difference as we know for Arsenal.

“I don’t see West Ham scoring so it’s a big home win for me. Arsenal 3-0 West Ham.”
