Darren Bent suggests Arsenal have two players who are more important than Bukayo Saka right now

Darren Bent has suggested that Declan Rice and William Saliba are more important players for Arsenal than Bukayo Saka right now.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the pundit reflected on Arsenal’s 4-3 win over Luton Town on Tuesday.

The win moved the Gunners five points clear at the top of the table on the night, with Liverpool closing the gap to two points after beating Sheffield United last night.

It’s fair to say the Gunners weren’t exactly convincing at Kenilworth Road and they left it late to secure a crucial win.

Declan Rice popped up with a last-minute header to hand Mikel Arteta’s side all three points after a spirited Luton display.

The 24-year-old has starred for Arsenal since joining from West Ham over the summer. He’s quickly become a key man at the Emirates Stadium, alongside the likes of William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

And Darren Bent feels Rice and Saliba are Arsenal’s most important players at the moment.

Bent suggests Saliba and Rice are more important than Saka

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Tottenham striker was asked whether he thinks Rice has become the most crucial player in Arsenal’s side.

But he was quick to point out that Saliba should be included in that conversation, while failing to mention Saka.

“And Saliba,” he said. “There are so many players but he has been, honestly, fantastic.”

Saliba’s importance to this current Arsenal side was highlighted last season after their form dropped off significantly after his injury.

It ultimately cost the Gunners the title as they endured a poor run of form towards the end of the season.

As for Rice, he only joined over the summer but it’s fair to say Arsenal would struggle without him in the middle of the park.

Thomas Partey has barely featured this season due to injuries and the Gunners don’t have another player like Rice.

But you’d have to put Saka in the conversation for their most important player due to his contributions in the final third. He leads the way for goal involvements this season and continues to provide in the biggest moments.
