David Ornstein says one player who’s attracting interest will not be allowed to leave Arsenal this month

David Ornstein provides an update on one Arsenal player who’s been linked with a move away from the club this month.
Arsenal need to sell players before they buy this month in order to stay in line with FFP, after the club spent over £200million on four new signings in the summer. Despite financial restrictions, Mikel Arteta remains determined to do business in January if the right opportunity arises.
Despite the recent dip in form, Arsenal remain in the Premier League title race as well as in the Champions League knockout stages ahead of the second half of the campaign. Although the Gunners need to sell before they buy, Mikel Arteta won’t want to lose valuable squad depth for the vital months of the season still to come.

One player who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates is Emile Smith Rowe. The 23-year-old has only started one Premier League game so far this season, which has lead to many clubs being interested in the player this month.
However David Ornstein has claimed that Smith Rowe is likely to stay at Arsenal beyond January as he says he’s not heard anything to suggest the midfielder will be allowed to leave North London.
David Ornstein on Emile Smith Rowe: “Do they have to raise money through departures? Most likely, there are assets there such as Eddie Nketiah who is liked by Crystal Palace, I don’t sense any movement with Smith Rowe leaving permanently in January, maybe that one would be addressed in the summer and maybe there’d be some loan interest, but that’s not the sort of thing that would raise money unless it was a permanent departure.
Emile Smith Rowe’s recent comments will also cool ongoing rumours: “Training is really intense actually. I think it’s got to be like that to keep pushing every day and to keep improving, and the manager demands that.

“It’s nice to be high up in the league, but in training, you are not thinking about that – you just want to get better every day and keep improving. I love that side of it. Everybody has to prove that they can play here, so it means every session you have to be at your best. It’s a great environment to be in.”
The midfielder’s commitment will be reassuring for Arsenal fans, who hope to see him play a key role in the club’s chase for success in the Premier League and Champions League.
