David Seaman has shared what Aaron Ramsdale texted him after the Arsenal legend asked if he had got a touch onto the strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold which crashed off the crossbar on Sunday.

Aaron Ramsdale came back into the Arsenal side for a rare start this season against Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup at the Emirates.

Unfortunately for Mikel Arteta’s side, it proved to be a hugely disappointing evening for Arsenal. Despite creating more than enough chances to win the game, the Gunners could not beat Alisson. And they were punished for how poor they were in front of goal.

Replays showed that Ramsdale got his hand right near the ball. His fingers did appear to move as the ball went by, but with the path of the ball not clearly deviating, it was hard to tell whether he had got anything on the strike.

But speaking on Seaman Says, David Seaman has claimed that Ramsdale has cleared up whether he did indeed manage to get a touch on Alexander-Arnold’s shot.

“He touched Trent’s effort onto the bar,” he said.

was looking at it and I was thinking I’m sure he’s touched that. And then nobody said anything, you couldn’t really tell from all the camera angles.

“So I text him. And he went, ‘yeah, I got a touch’. Because I text him, ‘I’ll be telling everybody you got a touch onto that, please tell me you did’. He went, ‘yeah I did’.”

Goalkeeper did chances of returning to Mikel Arteta’s side no harm at all
Ramsdale was definitely one of the players to emerge from the tie with some credit. Obviously, it has been a difficult time for the England international, having lost his place to David Raya.

Raya has not been overly impressive since his move to Arsenal. So Ramsdale has arguably sent a message to Mikel Arteta with his display against Liverpool.

Certainly, he deserves huge praise if he has managed to play a role in Alexander-Arnold’s strike hitting the bar just before the break.
