Erik ten Hag makes comment about Arsenal game right after Man United’s FA Cup win yesterday

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag made a comment about Arsenal right after his side’s FA Cup quarter-final victory yesterday.

Erik ten Hag’s men picked up a dramatic 4-3 win over Liverpool and booked their place in the semi-finals at Wembley.

But while the Dutchman was delighted with the result, it would appear that United’s defeat at Arsenal back in September is still bothering him.

Of course, the Gunners picked up a 3-1 win over the Red Devils thanks to late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus.

United had a goal ruled out on the day which would have handed them a 2-1 lead late in the game.

And Ten Hag believes his side should have also been awarded a penalty, which he was vocal about at the time.

Ten Hag makes comment about Arsenal game
Speaking to The Guardian, Ten Hag mentioned the defeat at Arsenal after his side beat Liverpool at Old Trafford yesterday.

It could be [a turning point] but we have missed so many opportunities,” he said.

“Arsenal in the fourth game of the season we should have had a penalty in the 87th minute, then we scored with Garnacho and it was disallowed and then we conceded a goal that should be disallowed.

“Every team needs these moments in a season but we never had one. This could be the moment that gives the team energy and the belief that they can do amazing things. When you can beat Liverpool like this you can beat any opponent.”

Of course, Ten Hag is referring to United striker Rasmus Hojlund’s appeals for a penalty after a challenge from Gabriel.

It’s clear the Dutchman still feels hard done by after that result at the Emirates and you’d imagine he will be desperate for payback.

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford May 11 in what could be a defining game in their bid for the Premier League title.
