Every word Mikel Arteta said on Kai Havertz, Aaron Ramsdale error and Liverpool vs Man City

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken after the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Brentford, including his views on Kai Havertz, Aaron Ramsdale and the huge Premier League clash between Liverpool and Man City

It felt great. Obviously we had to dig in and earn the right to win it. I’m really pleased with the performance, the maturity and control that we showed and how we overcame difficulties. If you want to be up there you have to win these types of games. The team showed that it has the tools and the determination to do so.

I’m so happy. If somebody told me after the first two or three months that the whole stadium would be singing his song with that passion, with that feeling with that chemistry, I would have found it hard to believe. That’s what happens to good people. He’s an exceptional player

How do you see Ramsdale’s display?

Really happy especially because he did exactly what he is, which is a person with huge personality and courage, very determined. Errors are part of football. It’s how you react to it, especially for the keepers which is probably the most difficult position. He did so in an amazing way. I’m not surprised because the whole team and the whole stadium was behind him. He has earned that respect and admiration. We really wanted to win for him.

There’s a lot of qualities that you need to win that many games in this league in the manner that we’ve done it. But it’s about being consistent, not being satisfied, and wanting to do more. As well having the qualities to win games in different contexts because every game is going to require a different process a different story and it was a different one today.

Is it frustrating that this game was played on Saturday night rather than Friday night like in other countries?

Yeah, but this stadium is going to have the energy that you’ve never seen in your life. We haven’t done it for 14 years so bring your noise, bring your energy, bring your passion to that stadium and something beautiful is going to happen.
