Ian Wright backs £50m Bournemouth Star amid interest from Arsenal;” another bid submitted”.

Highbury icon Wright believes Brentford striker Toney and Bournemouth star Solanke could both do a job for Arsenal amid Arteta showing an interest in their transfers. He is convinced that Toney would suit the way Arsenal play. But Solanke can hand Arteta a complete striker.

Reports by the Mirror list Toney as Arteta’s top striker target for the January transfer market and note that the Brentford talisman wants to join Arsenal. But the Gunners must pay £60m to sign the 27-year-old, who scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games during last term.

Solanke, on the other hand, is Arteta’s backup target for Toney, per the Daily Star. He would also cost the Gunners £50m as Bournemouth are prepared to listen to offers. The 26-year-old has impressed Arsenal with his hard-working displays, along with 12 goals in 19 games.
Now, Arsenal legend Wright believes Toney and Solanke would both offer worthy transfers this January. Arteta is keen to sign a new centre-forward this month to add an out-and-out No9 to his team. He also wants a more physical striker than Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah.

“I don’t think he’s somebody that if you look at the goals output, that he isn’t going to do something at Arsenal,” Wright told Premier League Productions (01/01, 14:15). “Look at the way he plays for Brentford and the way Arsenal try to play now. Then I am thinking, ‘Yeah, I could see him in there’. You could also see a Dominic Solanke in the way he plays.

“[He is] somebody who has got some pedigree from Chelsea from playing at a young age. [He] played at Liverpool, learning his trade, getting ridiculed for the lack of goals. Look at him now. He is a proper modern centre-forward in everything he does.”
