Ian Wright shares what he finds unbelievable about William Saliba

Ian Wright has shared what he finds unbelievable about William Saliba as he named the Arsenal player as the one he would pinch from another nation to add to the England team ahead of Euro 2024.

Wright was speaking on Stick to Football following the draw for next year’s tournament in Germany, with the Three Lions set to play Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia.

France will undoubtedly be one of the favourites for the competition. And of course, one of the players who will surely be in the squad is Arsenal star William Saliba.

Ian Wright would love to add William Saliba to England side

The 22-year-old has been sensational during his time in the Gunners side. Thierry Henry claimed this week that Saliba is now the best centre-back in the Premier League.

So perhaps it should not come as a surprise that Ian Wright picked out Saliba when asked by Gary Neville to pick another player from another side to put in this current England team.

The centre-back area was earmarked as a potential concern for Gareth Southgate’s side. And Wright noted that he cannot believe that the Arsenal man is not a regular for Les Bleus.

“I’d take Saliba. He’s on the bench for France for crying out loud. It’s unbelievable what they’ve got, they’re so stacked. I’d take Saliba,” Wright told Stick to Football.

Defender not playing regularly for France isn’t bad news for Arsenal

Arsenal fans may not mind seeing Saliba used a more peripheral figure for his country. Of course, for many, his injury towards the end of last season was the decisive factor as Arsenal ran out of steam in the Premier League title race.

So not having him play regularly on international duty is no bad thing as the Gunners look to go one step further this season.

He has been an amazing signing for £27 million. And he would certainly be an ideal addition to the current England team, which appears to lack strength in depth at the heart of the defence.
