Jamie Carragher makes comment about Arsenal straight after Liverpool’s dramatic draw with Aston Villa

Liverpool and Aston Villa was the big game on Monday Night Football tonight but Jamie Carragher has made a comment about Arsenal after the result.

A 3-3 draw brought a stunning game to everyone’s screens as Villa limped towards Champions League qualification and Liverpool continued to throw games away.

urgen Klopp’s side had found themselves 3-1 up but as has been the case in a lot of games this season, they threw the game away with sloppy moments.

Of course, the Villa Park crowd got up and helped drive Unai Emery’s side into the game.

But despite that atmosphere and Villa Park almost willing the ball in, Jamie Carragher has suggested that those sorts of thing simply don’t happen to better teams like they do Liverpool.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game and how Liverpool let Villa back in, Carragher insisted that Arsenal simply wouldn’t have let it happen.

“What I would say is that wouldn’t happen to Arsenal or Man City. And that’s the reason why Liverpool are where they are. They have more control,” Carragher said.

Commenting further after reviewing the error from Alexis Mac Allister for the third Villa goal, Carragher added further context.

“One thing I have noticed about Arsenal is that Mikel Arteta and Arsenal in a situation like that late in the game, they aren’t scared to go direct.

“We sort of think we don’t see it now as much but I see Raya a lot of times now late in the game, they will just go long with it. It’s refreshing actually.”

Something for Arne Slot to work on
Liverpool are one of the most exciting teams to watch in the league for a neutral but if you are a Liverpool fan, it must drive you mad.

Time and again they dominate the ball and have plenty of chances before being caught out at the back and throwing points away.

It’s now 41 goals conceded for Liverpool this season and when Arsenal are only letting in 28, that tells you how far away they are.

For new manager Arne Slot, this is something he might want to smarten up on. Scoring goals isn’t a problem – Liverpool are only five behind the Gunners – but conceding is a big issue and it needs resolving.
