Arsenal and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Saturday, with the Gunners remaining top of the Premier League table as a result of the hard-fought point.

The visitors opened the scoring four minutes into the game after Gabriel Magalhaes put his header beyond Alisson following a freekick from Martin Odegaard.

Mohamed Salah drew Liverpool level in the 29th minute and both sides were unable to get the winner, with the hosts coming close in the second-half.
Arsenal would count themselves lucky to have left Merseyside with a point, but not much could separate them from the Reds.

Both teams showed exactly why they are the top-two in the table right now, and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was particularly impressed with the defending from the centre-backs, singling out Arsenal duo William Saliba and Gabriel and their Reds counterparts for praise.

The Sky Sports pundit posted on social media platform X after the game:
Arsenal had 49% ball possession while both clubs registered 13 shots apiece, with three shots from Liverpool finding the target, while the Gunners hit the target with two shots.

Saliba and Gabriel limited the attacking threat of the Reds with some fine defending, and they would have been gutted not to keep a clean sheet.

Arsenal have conceded just 16 league goals this term, the joint-least with Liverpool, and their improved defence could play a huge role as they look to win a first Premier League title since 2004.

The partnership between the France international and Brazil international has arguably been the best in the league this term, and they will be eager to continue to get better at playing together and individually going forward.
