Jorginho set for new Arsenal contract talks as Edu and Mikel Arteta summer plan clear

Arsenal are preparing to open contract talks with Jorginho following a number of impressive recent performances, understands.

The Italy international sees his current deal expire this summer with the Gunners ready to offer him a one-year extension with the option for another a year. Against Liverpool and Newcastle, Jorginho has significantly impressed alongside Declan Rice to give Arsenal more control in midfield in the absence of Thomas Partey.

Upon initially joining back in January 2023, Jorginho signed an 18-month deal with an option to extend his stay for a year. However, the latest set of negotiations are for a new contract in its entirety to be signed. Much has been said about the future of the experienced midfielder recently with Mikel Arteta remaining coy on the topic earlier this month.
