Kieran Tierney issues blunt response on Arsenal return talk amid Mikel Arteta injury crisis

Kieran Tierney has revealed whether or not he will return to Arsenal in January with Mikel Arteta hit by yet another defensive injury blow. Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber, who both started the season as full-backs, have missed the last few months through injury with a further three concerns plaguing Arteta in that position.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has been able to fill in on both the right and left although he has dealt with his own injury issues and his return to action in the 2-1 defeat to Fulham Fulham this past weekend arrived with his departure to play in the Asian Cup with Japan. Jakub Kiwior has started on the left several times already this season with the Poland international asked to do the same last weekend in the absence of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
We don’t know,” Arteta said when asked about an injury to the Ukraine international. “He felt something in his calf. We will scan him tomorrow and see how far he’s going to miss games.” With that update, Ben White now appears to be the only fit and available full-back for Arteta but even that may not be the case.
Tbfantasy understands White has been managing a knee injury since the November defeat to Newcastle, with it serious enough to see him miss the following weekend’s clash against Burnley. The England international has continued to play through the problem although it has affected his form with a less intense schedule for January on the cards.
Considering the major issues in defence, with it unlikely to be solved by a transfer, questions have been asked about a possible return from a loan spell at Real Sociedad for Tierney, however the man himself has emphatically squashed talk of that.

“Several people have already asked me if I was going to return to Arsenal now and the answer is no. I’m going to stay here for sure. As for staying here longer, the decision is not mine,” Tierney said. The Scotland international joined the Spanish club on a season-long loan in the summer after being offered minimal chances by Arteta last season.
The 26-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season with injuries disrupting his campaign. However, he appears to now be over those with three 90-minute appearances in the last five La Liga games with Sociedad sitting sixth in the table.
