Micah Richards says 24-year-old Arsenal player has proved so many people wrong now

Micah Richards has now been discussing an Arsenal player who has completely defied the criticism he was receiving earlier in the season.

In contrast to this time last year, Mikel Arteta’s side seem to be peaking as the ‘business end’ of the season arrives.

was injuries to the likes of William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu which halted Arsenal last season, and although anything similar now would also prove an issue, the squad is better equipped.

Both Arteta and Edu Gaspar were clearly very well-planned and considered when conducting their recruitment last season

And as well as all of the solutions Declan Rice offers in midfield, Kai Havertz is also offering a ton of tactical flexibility in forward positions.

Havertz was a very controversial signing at the time, almost everybody had their say on how Arsenal could have better spent their money.

But Arteta was adamant in his plan, he could already see his vision and the bigger picture.

That being said, Micah Richards has now been discussing just how far the new Arsenal player has come since those days on ‘The Rest is Football‘ podcast.

Micah Richards says Arsenal player Kai Havertz finally looks happy now
Speaking alongside both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, Richards said that Havertz is now showing his peak form, a player who now has his confidence back.

Shearer initially said: “You’ve got to give great credit to Arsenal as well, looked as if it was going to be one of those days and when that happens you’ve just got to find a way haven’t you?”

“They’ve done that and they’ve given themselves a great opportunity as well.”

Lineker replied: “Kai Havertz has kind of stepped up hasn’t he?”

Richards: “Indeed he has, and I’m glad because obviously it didn’t work out for him at Chelsea, although he scored the Champions League winning goal in the final against Manchester City, so he’s scored big goals before.

“But I just feel like he’s really appreciated at Arsenal, and at a time when a lot of people were doubting him – what is his position?

“I think we’ve all sort of said that but Arteta has found a way for him to get to his best form, the way they play, and he looks like he’s happy.

“He’s got his confidence back which is nice to see.”

Ready for Porto
As a result of the excellent Arsenal form that Richards mentioned, there seems no chance that Havertz would be dropped for any player against Porto.

Gabriel Jesus seems likely to remain on the bench despite his excellent Champions League record, and that’s perhaps the biggest testament to how far Havertz has come.

All that being said, Arsenal could be missing a key player against Porto tomorrow, meaning Arteta may consider a tactical reshuffle.
