Mikel Arteta delivers Arsenal injury news as five players ruled out for Aston Villa

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has confirmed that five of his players will miss the high-profile televised clash at Aston Villa on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off).

Arsenal will head to Villa Park on the back of 4-3 win over Luton Town, but Arteta will be absent from the touchline after earning a yellow card for celebrating the Gunners’ dramatic late winner at Kenilworth Road.

Villa, meanwhile, will be looking to close the gap on the Premier League leaders to just one point after going third with their 1-0 victory over champions Manchester City on Wednesday. Unai Emery’s side are winless in their last four league meetings against the Gunners, but will be hugely confident of ending that run as they go in search of a 15th consecutive home victory.
Arteta will be without Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Emile Smith Rowe and Jurrien Timber for the game. They are all recovering from injuries and will not travel with the squad.
Arteta said of Partey today: “We don’t know (how long he will be out). He’s getting a very good evolution in the injury, but… we are quite short with five key players not being available.”
