Mikel Arteta has already shown Jamal Musiala Arsenal’s transfer intent amid Bayern decision

Jamal Musiala’s changing transfer situation could tempt Arsenal with Mikel Arteta already stating the club’s intentions for the summer window’s top stars.

Arsenal have entered a new era of the transfer market. Both Manchester City and Liverpool have been joined by the Gunners with players like Declan Rice and transfer fees exceeding £100million are part of the club’s fabric.

Therefore, as news of Jamal Musiala’s ever-intriguing situation develops, the Gunners should be certainly circling along with their title rivals for the German’s signature. According to recent reports, Musiala has rejected the latest offer from Bayern Munich and has informed the club he has no intention of agreeing to a new deal.

The attacking midfielder who can also play on either flank has scored nine goals and has four assists in a trying season for Bayern. Manager Thomas Tuchel is under immense pressure as they have slipped well behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.

The 21-year-old is considered one of the best talents in the world and with both Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira’s futures far from assured in north London, he would be quite the coup for the club. Mikel Arteta was asked previously about the possibility of Arsenal being in the frame for players such as Kylian Mbappe and his words could certainly translate to Musiala seamlessly.

When there is a player of that calibre, we always have to be in that conversation,” he said in relation to the Frenchman. When asked if it was a case of ‘why not’, he agreed.

“Exactly,” he replied. “Why not? If we want to be the best team, then you need to have the best players, that’s for sure

The club that we are, I don’t think that’s ever been an issue. Everyone wants to play for Arsenal.

“At least with the players we’ve discussed, they’ve always had a smile on their face when you open the door to that discussion. That’s because of our history and everything we’ve done in the past.”

Musiala’s deal expires in 2026 and therefore Bayern have plenty of control over commanding a very good fee or standing firm in trying to hold on for now. The hope from an Arsenal perspective is that plenty of capital can be raised from player sales.

Smith Rowe, who would likely make way for Musiala, would certainly command a serious fee, while other names such as Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Thomas Partey, Reiss Nelson, Kieran Tierney and more could yet go too to ramp up profits.

The summer is expected to be yet another busy one for Arsenal and perhaps a blockade might be that attacking midfield is not necessarily an area of serious investment. Striker, defensive midfield, right wing and defence are, and could take the majority of financial focus.
