Speaking to The Express, the West Ham United assistant coach said: “You look at some of the high-flying teams around the world, they might have four options up front. There are still slight questions marks about (Eddie) Nketiah and (Gabriel) Jesus.

“Maybe even if (Kai) Havertz plays up top, there’s a question mark there. If an out-and-out goal scorer that guarantees 20-odd goals a season (becomes available), that would push Arsenal’s credentials even further.”

Summer signing Havertz has predominantly operated in midfield since joining from Chelsea and the German international has found the back of the net on four occasions in the league so far this term. Meanwhile, Nketiah is Arsenal’s joint-top scorer in the Premier League, having netted five times in the English top-flight.

But Jesus has struggled in front of goal, scoring just three times in the league despite starting the majority of the games as the Gunners’ centre-forward.
