Mikel Arteta told the transfer that will unlock ‘amazing’ Arsenal star that Thierry Henry lovesv

Mikel Arteta has been told the Arsenal transfer that will help Gabriel Jesus reach his full potential. The Brazil international, who joined the Gunners in the summer of 2022, has enjoyed spells of brilliance at Emirates Stadium, but he has often been plagued by injuries.

Another knee issue has resulted in him missing the last few weeks, however he was back in the matchday squad last weekend when Arsenal put in a convincing display to beat Newcastle 4-1. Given how much action he has missed, Arteta is understandably being cautious about his return with that likely to continue ahead of the clash against Sheffield United.

“He’s fit enough,” Arteta admitted, when asked if Jesus could start, in his Friday press conference. “How long he will last that’s something different. We didn’t want to take any risks after the result we had against Newcastle. We need him fit, he’s a massive player for us and now we want to make sure we load him in the right way.”

In his absence, Arsenal have been in fine form but Arteta will certainly prefer to have Jesus available for the upcoming set of fixtures. Scoring goals is his primary job, however what he brings to the team is invaluable and an absence of goals is often forgotten about as long as Arsenal are winning games.

Despite that, former Arsenal man Emmanuel Petit has suggested a marquee transfer could significantly help the 26-year-old. “Gabriel Jesus always gives his all, but he always lacks the coolness in front of the opposing goal,” he told Wettfreunde. “Maybe a well-known newcomer would somehow give him wings. Evan Ferguson would prevail because of his effectiveness and his coolness.”

The Brighton striker has been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and numerous other Premier League clubs despite recently signing a new contract. It would be a significant coup if the Gunners were to sign him and how he may be able to help Jesus, given how he is talked about by managers and teammates, could make the transfer a very clever one.

Over the past few years, Jesus has received praise from the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry revealing he ‘loves’ the versatile striker. However, it is perhaps Oleksandr Zinchenko who knows him best having seen him develop over the past few years.

“[Jesus], he’s like an animal,” he admitted in April 2023. “Sometimes there are a lot of frustrating moments in football – when you don’t play much when you didn’t play well in the last game – but him, his reaction in all these moments is incredible. Chapeau. At City, I was watching him thinking ‘Wow, that’s the way you need to react on these, these and these moments’. And he was always the best on the pitch in training sessions. Always

Amazing talent. I know that he worked so hard to be in the position he is in right now, and I’m so happy to know him personally. It’s a pleasure to have these kinds of teammates in your team.”
