NEWSInjury update on Declan Rice as Arsenal sweat on his fitness ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Declan Rice was forced off the pitch with ten minutes to go during Arsenal’s win over Crystal Palace on the weekend. It was nearly the perfect game for Mikel Arteta as he saw his side get back to winning ways by thrashing Palace 5-0, however an injury to the club’s record signing left fans nervously awaiting an update.

The 23-year-old appeared to tweak his hamstring late on during the match at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Declan Rice has been arguably Arsenal’s most consistent performer this season so losing him for any amount of time would be a huge blow for Mikel Arteta’s side.

It would be an even bigger blow with the big title clash against Liverpool just around the corner. However it’s good news for Arsenal fans as according to Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail, Declan Rice is expected to be available for Arsenal’s next match against Nottingham Forest next Tuesday.

After undergoing tests, the injury concern picked up against Crystal Palace was seen as minor and Declan Rice isn’t expected to miss any games which is a huge boost for the Gunners.

On the other hand, Liverpool have a big injury concern of their own with Mohamed Salah also picking up a hamstring injury while away with Egypt at AFCON.

Mohamed Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas says the Liverpool forward will be out for 21-28 days: “Mohamed’s injury is more serious than first thought and he will be out for 21-28 days, and not two games. His best chance at participating in the current AFCON is by undergoing intensive rehabilitation in the UK and rejoining the team as soon as he is fit.”

With the big title clash between the two teams in 13 days time, the winger is not expected to be fit for the match which is a huge blow for Liverpool, but a big positive for Arsenal.
