Report: European club have just now beaten Arsenal to sign ‘unstoppable’ forward this month

Arsenal have reportedly missed out on the signing of French teenager Jean-Matteo Bahoya, with Eintracht Frankfurt winning the race.

The Angers SCO winger has recently been linked with a move to north London, with Arsenal joining a number of top French clubs in the race to sign Bahoya this January.

Despite Arsenal’s status as one of the best clubs in the Premier League, though, it appears that Bahoya will now be taking his talents to the Bundesliga with Frankfurt.

According to L’Equipe, the German side have reached an agreement in principle with Angers to sign Bahoya for a reported €10m (£8m), with Arsenal set to miss out on the attacker.

Praised by Angers-Info as an ‘unstoppable’ forward, Arsenal won’t feel too annoyed about losing out to Frankfurt for Bahoya this month given how raw and relatively inexperienced the forward is.

However, if the youngster settles in Germany, Arsenal could soon look rather foolish given how little they have pushed to sign Bahoya, who could have been part of the Gunners’ long-term future.

Arsenal could regret not beating Eintracht Frankfurt to Jean-Matteo Bahoya

Whilst Arsenal are lacking a world-class centre-forward to leave the line, the Gunners’ attacking options are quite impressive.

Mikel Arteta has done an excellent job at developing the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, and the Arsenal boss could have done similar work on Bahoya.

And with the attacker now heading to Frankfurt, there could be a tinge of regret at Arsenal if the French wonderkid bursts onto the scene in Germany with the Bundesliga side.

Indeed, Arsenal have got it wrong many times before in the transfer window, and the north London side will be hoping that Bahoya isn’t another mistake in the market this January
