Rio Ferdinand says he really wishes Man United had gone and signed 24-year-old Arsenal player

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that he wanted Manchester United to sign Declan Rice before he joined Arsenal in the summer.

The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table right now, and Rice is one of the biggest reasons why. He has arguably been the signing of the season, and he could well lead Arsenal to their first league title in two decades. Ferdinand wishes he was at Manchester United.
Rio Ferdinand wanted Arsenal’s Declan Rice at Manchester United

Arsenal signed Declan Rice in the summer for a club-record transfer fee.

The Englishman was already one of the best players in the Premier League at West Ham United, but he seems to have gone up to a whole new level at the Emirates now.
Arsenal fans absolutely love Rice. He hasn’t put a foot wrong in a Gunners shirt, and his performances have been so good that rival fans, pundits and even players like James Maddison are jealous he doesn’t play for their club.

Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, says he wishes his old club went and signed Rice in the summer before Arsenal sealed the deal to get him.

He said on FIVE: “I think Declan Rice, I said it before, Man United, he was the player I would have 100 per cent gone and got.
You could argue there’s midfielders with more ability than him maybe, right? But, I would argue that it’s probably only Jude Bellingham that comes near him in terms of being able to get into a dressing room and try and get control of that dressing room ASAP and get the respect of that dressing room (on) day two, three, four, straight away, with not only performances and standards and helping with the culture and the environment but the attitude and the likeability factor but also the respect factor that he would get straight in.

“That’s why I thought that he, more than anybody was probably, as in more important than anybody, Man United should have gone and got, and they allowed Arsenal to go and get him.”
Declan Rice is Arsenal’s most important player

When Arsenal signed Declan Rice in the summer, everybody knew he was going to be a huge hit at the Emirates Stadium.
The Englishman has everything in his game. He is arguably the best defensive midfielder around and is brilliant when he plays as a number eight as well. The 24-year-old is excellent on the ball, great in duels and as he has shown recently, he can score big goals too.

Rice has already scored late winners against Manchester United and Luton Town, and he also started the comeback against Chelsea, when the Gunners were 2-0 down and ended up drawing 2-2.

Manchester United fans would’ve loved Rice at Old Trafford, but that ship has sailed. It will be extremely difficult for them to get anyone as good as him anytime soon.
