Some think Arsenal would need to offer £180m for ‘brilliant’ player before club even pick up phone

Arsenal may have to be prepared to offer £180 million if they want to open talks with a Premier League rival over one transfer target in the summer window.

Arsenal are going to be one to watch in the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta’s men only missing out on the Premier League title on the final day of the campaign.

The Gunners will refuse to be complacent, and will look for the signings which, they hope, represent the final pieces in the jigsaw – and it certainly seems that they have some ambitious targets in mind.

Of course, much of the talk concerning a potential weakness in the Arsenal squad this season has centred around the striker position, despite Kai Havertz proving to be a revelation in the second-half of the campaign.

Arsenal target Alexander Isak may cost at least £180 million
One player Arsenal are interested in is Alexander Isak, with the ‘brilliant‘ Swede scoring 21 goals in the Premier League this past season.

TBR Football reported recently that Newcastle are confident of agreeing a new contract with Isak, and it seems that the Magpies are not going to let him leave unless the Gunners are prepared to smash their transfer record.

According to a report from The Telegraph, sources have suggested that any club keen to sign Isak would have to be willing to make a bid worth £180 million to even tempt Newcastle to pick up the phone.

Gunners also eyeing summer move for Swede’s teammate
Clearly, it is hard to see Isak going anywhere if Newcastle want anything like £180 million, but you could definitely understand the Magpies’ view. Replacing Isak would be a huge task.

He is not the only Newcastle player Arsenal have on their radar. TBR Football reported that Arsenal would be ready to make a move for Bruno Guimaraes should he indicate a desire to leave Newcastle.

As The Telegraph notes, Bruno does have a release clause of £100 million right now, so he would seemingly be more attainable for the Gunners.

But given that Arsenal did sign David Raya on an initial loan last summer and then proceeded to let the January window pass without any new signings coming in, there does have to be a question mark over what sort of budget Edu and Mikel Arteta will be working with this summer.
