The difference’…Piers Morgan claims Mikel Arteta has made Arsenal’s best signing for over 20 years

It’s over to Arsenal tonight as they travel to Sheffield United looking to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table.

The Gunners have sat back and watched Liverpool and City both win this weekend to make tonight’s trip to Bramall Lane a bit more pressured.

Of course, Arsenal will be confident of winning against the basement boys. The Gunners have a number of outstanding players in top form who should, in theory, be able to blow Chris Wilder’s side away.

One of those players is new midfielder, Declan Rice. Arsenal paid more than £100m to sign the England man in the summer and his performances have been superb ever since.

And speaking on TalkSPORT this morning about his beloved Arsenal, Piers Morgan has claimed that Rice is in fact the best signing Arsenal have made since they signed Dennis Bergkamp.

“If you ask me above all else what has been the difference – Declan Rice. I think Declan Rice has been the best signing Arsenal have made since Dennis Bergkamp back in the mid 90’s,” Morgan said.

Declan Rice is Arsenal’s top man in the middle
Arsenal have a hugely talented squad and it’s little wonder they’re in the title picture again.

The likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are brilliant players who have taken Arsenal to another level in recent years. However, in Declan Rice, they’ve finally got that midfield player who makes them even better.

Much like City have with Rodri, Arsenal now have a central midfielder who can do it all and is effectively the first name on the team-sheet.

Eyebrows were raised when Rice was signed for so much money in the summer. But just six or seven months on, and it already looks like money very well spent by the Gunners.

A Premier League title is very much in sight for Arsenal and Rice has been instrumental in getting them to within touching distance.
