The new normal’…Pundit shares why Arsenal will fall away in the title race now after Man City beat Man United

Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are in quite the battle for the Premier League title at the moment.

Both Liverpool and City got through their games this weekend to put the pressure back on Arsenal, who travel to bottom club Sheffield United on Monday Night Football.

For the neutral fan and pundits, the title race is one of the best in years and it looks like things could indeed go right down to the wire.

However, after seeing both Liverpool and Man City this weekend, Joleon Lescott has said that Arsenal are now his third favourites, just because of the winning run required to be successful.

“I think it’s more important for Arsenal [experience] that will be a factor for them. Liverpool have been there and thereabouts, they know what it takes to win. Obviously new members of the squad haven’t won the league but the Klopp factor, last season, Anfield is obviously an intimidating place regardless. So the experience for Arsenal will be a factor but for Liverpool and City, they’re used to winning and we see them go on runs of 10-12 games of wins. I just think that’s the standard now and I put Arsenal third because I haven’t seen them produce a run of ten wins in a row which is the new normal,” Lescott said.

One loss changes it all for Arsenal or Liverpool
If the ultimate disaster struck tomorrow and Arsenal somehow lost to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, then that effectively ends the Gunners’ hopes.

That is how tight things are this season.

One defeat now changes the dynamic for everyone involved. If Arsenal lose a game, they’re suddenly two results off overhauling City and Liverpool and that makes it so hard to do.

Of course, the title race is massively exciting for us neutrals. Anyone of the three can win it and it’s going to be a case of who holds their nerve in the end.

Arsenal remain right in the mix but with Liverpool and City doing the business, a trip to Sheffield on a cold Monday night will not be top of Mikel Arteta’s list.
