Theo Walcott says player Arsenal signed for just £3m has the best left foot in Premier League history

Theo Walcott has suggested that his former Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie owns the best left foot of any Premier League player in history.

The 34-year-old made the comments when speaking to Goal.

So, what did Theo Walcott – who left Arsenal in 2018 – say about Robin van Persie? Let’s take a look…

What Theo Walcott said about Robin van Persie
Well, the man from Stanmore was asked to create his dream footballer from Premier League legends.

Walcott opted to go with himself in the speed department – and Xabi Alonso for footballing IQ – before selecting Van Persie’s left foot to go on his ideal player

The Dutchman scored 48 of his 132 goals for Arsenal using his left foot – according to Transfermarkt – and there is no denying that very few players in history had the ability he possessed on that side.

Van Persie could score all types of goals, from outrageous volleyed efforts on that sublime left foot to diving headers, and despite how things ended at the Emirates Stadium, he remains one of the finest strikers in Arsenal’s history

Arsenal signed Robin van Persie for just £3m
Arsene Wenger certainly had an eye for attacking players.

The Frenchman signed Nicolas Anelka for just £500,000 and then Thierry Henry for £11m – Van Persie also arrived in north London for a bargain fee.

Arsenal managed to sign the man born in Rotterdam for just £3m in a deal from Feyenoord back in 2004.

Van Persie helped the Gunners win the FA Community Shield in 2004 and also the FA Cup in 2005 – while also winning the Arsenal Player of the Season award on two occasions, firstly in 2009 and then again in 2012.

He was eventually sold to Manchester United for £24m in 2012 after eight years of service, so Arsenal also made a significant profit – fantastic business, to say the least.
