Top of my list’… Rio Ferdinand says 24-year-old attacker would be brilliant signing for Arsenal

Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on speculation linking Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The former Manchester United defender and TNT Sports pundit believes that Isak would be a very good signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window.

So, what has Rio Ferdinand said about Alexander Isak? Let’s take a look.

Arsenal backed to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United
Well, Arsenal have been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Earlier this month, Football Transfers reported that Arsenal are “huge admirers” of Isak and “are expressing a keen interest in securing the services of the Swedish striker”.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Edu both like Isak, who has scored 10 goals in 13 Premier League starts for Newcastle so far this season.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that it would be tough for any club to sign Isak this month, but he thinks that the 24-year-old would be a perfect signing for Arsenal now.

Ferdinand said about Isak when asked about a potential move to Arsenal on TNT Sports 1 (11:26 am, January 20, 2024): ‘Well, he is one of the players. We were talking about him.

“I think he is a fabulous footballer and I think he has got levels to jump still, and I think if he was somebody’s gettable, which I think could be difficult, but if he was gettable, he would be one at the top of my list at that level.”

My View: Newcastle won’t sell Isak in January
In my opinion, Newcastle United are not going to sell Alexander Isak to Arsenal or any other club in the January transfer window. No way.

Isak is one of the best and most important players in the Newcastle team. Manager Eddie Howe will surely not want to lose the Sweden international striker this month.

There is still a chance that Newcastle could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season. Callum Wilson is being linked with a move away from St. James’ Park, and the Magpies will surely not want to lose two strikers in the same window.
