Two ‘firm’ transfer targets ‘keen’ on Arsenal move as Edu discusses January plans

Both Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney are interested in joining Arsenal.

According to The Mirror, Brentford striker Ivan Toney and Wolves winger Pedro Neto are both “firm” targets and are “keen” to sign for Arsenal in the upcoming January transfer window.
Arsenal have been linked heavily with Toney. However, Brentford are reluctant to let the 27-year-old go as he is such an important figure in Thomas Frank’s squad. As such, they are thought to want at least £100 million for the target man, as per Sky Sports.

Equally, Neto is a player that Mikel Arteta rates highly. The 23-year-old winger is skilful and boasts electric pace. As a left-footed right-winger, he is also a natural fit for the back up role behind Bukayo Saka as he can replicate the England man’s tactical function in this Arsenal team. The Portuguese ace is currently injured, though, which could impact the viability of the Gunners bringing him to the club this winter.

On top of these issues with both players, Arsenal also need to prioritise investing in other parts of the pitch. There is now a desperate need for defensive reinforcements at the Emirates Stadium. Given the Gunners only have a limited budget at their disposal this winter, it could be the case that any potential attacking additions to the roster will have to wait until the summer.
Between Gabriel Jesus, Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah, and Reiss Nelson, Arsenal have plenty of options for players who can cover the attacking positions. All of these players will be expected to chip in with goals and assists, too.
Edu ready to pull strings for Arsenal in transfer window

Arsenal sporting director Edu has now discussed the club’s plans heading into the winter market. As quoted by The Mirror, the Brazilian former midfielder said, “we are prepared. We have big people around the club to support me and the decisions. We always have our targets – it is important to be prepared for every single scenario – that is very important.”
The fact that both Toney and Neto seem to at least want to join Arsenal is a major boost, even if the north London outfit are not in a position to push to secure their services at this time.

If the time does come that Arsenal want to make an official move for either player, then Edu will be a central figure in that process. He has a good track record of tempting players to the Emirates Stadium, where he is already a very popular figure amongst the current squad.
