What a signing’: Chris Sutton says Arsenal have recently done an unbelievable bit of business

Arsenal have got their transfer spot on in recent years it has to be said.

Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus have all proven to be absolutely brilliant signings as the Gunners have transformed from pretenders to contenders under Mikel Arteta.

However, the best signing of the bunch may well have come this summer.

Indeed, Declan Rice has been nothing short of a revelation since signing for Arsenal in the summer, and speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast, Chris Sutton has been full of praise for this signing, claiming that he’s been brilliant and arguably Player of the Season so far.

What a signing Rice was

Sutton spoke about the 24-year-old Arsenal ace.

“Great scenes, even I get it, Arsenal are known for overcelebrating, but I get the celebrations. It’s one of those moments where you’ll think blimey how big a goal was that from your Player of the Season at this moment in time, Declan Rice, what a signing he’s been,” Sutton said.

Doing the business

We find it hard to praise any signing that costs £105m, but it has to be said that Rice is doing the business for Arsenal.

At £105m, Rice wasn’t a value signing by any stretch of the imagination, but Arsenal have certainly got what they paid for here.

Indeed, Rice was brought in to shore up this side and control that midfield, and that’s exactly what he’s done.

Rice has been so important to Arsenal’s early season success, and he will have a huge part to play if the Gunners are indeed to go on and win the title this season.

Rice was expensive, but, so far, he’s showing that he may well be worth something close to the huge fee Arsenal splashed on the England international.
