Why Mikel Arteta shouted at Bukayo Saka during Arsenal clash with Liverpool at Anfield

Mikel Arteta and Bukayo Saka feature amongst the moments missed between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield

Arsenal travelled to Anfield knowing that a win would see them top the league at Christmas. It was two goals which shared the points from Gabriel Magalhaes and Mohamed Salah in one of the spectacles of the season.

It was a game of total chaos and both sides threatened, particularly on the break. Chances were flying for both sides in contrast to the bore-fest that was dealt out to supporters who watched when Manchester United visited Merseyside a week prior.

The game was being captured by the Sky Sports cameras. However, were inside the ground to provide the glimpses that the television images might have missed.

Martin Odegaard treatment
You never want to see any nerves before kick-off from the side but it was difficult not to have some nerves when Martin Odegaard requested some treatment from a member of the Arsenal medical staff before the game. The appeared to be something minor thankfully.

The Norwegian had something applied to the back of his calf and continued with the warm-up. Odegaard had suffered both a concussion and hip injury throughout the course of the autumn period which kept him out of several games and thankfully he has since returned.

Coaching Jorginho
Despite being a substitute, the Italian spent the entirety of his time doing anything but warming up. He was attached to the touchline and moving with the back four, effectively acting as an additional coach.

The experienced midfielder continues to have his future in an uncertain state. Arsenal have an option to extend his deal but a further 12 months if they want to.

With several experienced players potentially leaving within the next six to seven months, perhaps holding onto the former Chelsea man will come in very handy. Helping both on and off the field.

Liverpool were aiming to go long as much as they could to try and bypass the Arsenal midfield. The Arsenal defenders were continuously being peppered with crosses that needed to be cut out.

Mikel Arteta clearly wanted his Arsenal side to stop them from source. Bukayo Saka was caught high up-field not providing Ben White with the service he needed.

As yet another cross was dealt with, Arteta was seen shouting toward his right winger to get back and support his full-back. In the resulting moments, Saka was conscious to not drift too far away without busting his gut to get back.
